"ศิลปะการเขียนอักษร Calligraphy" เป็นศิลปะที่มีมาแต่โบราณทั้งในยุโรปและเอเซีย ซึ่งปัจจุบันศาสตร์และศิลปะแขนงนี้นับวันจะหาศิลปินและผู้ถ่ายทอดได้ยากยิ่งขึ้น เพราะโลกยุคใหม่เราต่างใช้คอมพิวเตอร์ในการเขียนและสื่อสารกันอย่างรวดเร็ว จนบางครั้งเราก็เร่งรีบเสียจนลืมไปว่า "นิ้วและมือ" ของเรานั้นมีข่ายใยประสาทเชื่อม "ความรู้สึก-ความคิด-สายตา-และสมาธิ" เข้าด้วยกัน
การเรียนหลักสูตร "ศิลปะการเีขียนอักษร Calligraphy"
นอกจากผู้เรียนจะได้ฝึกทักษะการเขียนอักษรโรมันแบบคลาสสิค และเทคนิคการใช้ปากกาพิเศษ Calligraphy Pens ซึ่งผู้สอนจะนำมาจากอังกฤษแล้ว ยังจะได้ฝึกออกแบบตัวอักษรศิลป์ในสไตล์ของตัวเอง ฝึกการจัดวางองค์ประกอบของอักษรและข้อความ (Layout and 'cut and paste' techniques) พร้อมทั้งจะได้ชมการสาธิตวิธีผสานงานเขียน Calligraphy แบบคลาสสิค เข้ากับการออกแบบดิจิตอลกราฟฟิคสมัยใหม่ด้วย
นอกจากนี้ การฝึกเขียน Calligraphy
ยังเป็นศิลปะที่นำไปสู่การฝึกสมาธิอย่างดีเยี่ยม
ในขณะที่เขียนอักษรแต่ละตัว
จิตใจ-ความคิด-สายตา-มือ-และปากกาจะรวมกันเป็นหนึ่ง
ผู้ฝึกจะรับรู้ได้ถึงประสบการณ์สมาธิภายในตัวเอง

The course is an introduction to the italic hand and will cover :-
- Introduction to the use of steel pens
- Learn how to create the italic alphabet
- Ryhthm , texture and Contrast
- Layout and 'cut and paste' techniques
- Creat a finished calligraphic artwork
- Demonstrations of degital applications
Our alphabets are the everyday visual symbols of our speech, and to reconnect our bodies to the written word through the use of hand lettering, (as opposed to the computer keyboard), can be a powerful form of communication as well as a therapeutic process. Calligraphy is an art form that is open to us all and which can be a meditative and contemplative experience.
Course tutor Richard Crookes has worked as a freelance artist for nearly 30 years and studies calligraphy to the advanced level with the Society of Scribes and Illuminators in England.
